I've always been a bit of an outcast. While I had friend groups growing up, I never quite felt like I fit in. I was the last picked in PE, teased for preferring books and homework over sports. But even then, roleplaying had a quiet hold on my heart—whether I was imagining myself as a book character or acting out scenes from a favorite movie.
In high school, I discovered after-school clubs and, with them, a real sense of belonging. Roleplaying became my escape, therapy, and joy. It was during this time, I fell in love with Dungeons & Dragons. A move during my sophomore year didn’t change that passion. Instead, I found creative outlets in online communities and games like World of Warcraft, where storytelling and connection thrived.
In 2011, while adventuring in WoW, I met a character named Bookernoe—my future husband, Lonnie. What began as digital adventures turned into real-life partnership, and today we share those journeys together not only in games but in life, raising our son Trenton.
Being part of Dice Alliance has allowed me to reconnect with Dungeons & Dragons in a powerful way. I've made lifelong friends, and I get to share this experience with my husband and son. Seeing the joy and sense of belonging in the faces of the youth we serve is truly heartwarming. I can’t wait to see what adventures lie ahead.
“Everyone is welcome around our table.”
